Shakespeare in Song

Join Continuum for an evening of song where Shakespearean comedy meets enchantment and lovers meet fate, in four centuries of the Bard’s language set to music.

Continuum’s Artistic Director Harry Guthrie leads audiences on a revealing journey through the madrigalian wit of Thomas Morley to the mystical stillness of John Tavener. Settings by Vaughan Williams, Grainger, Walton, Beach, Jaakko Mäntyjärvi and Owain Park show off Shakespeare’s words in all their playfulness, passion and poignancy.

Performed in the atmospheric setting of St Thomas’s Church, the concert illuminates the many ways composers have responded to the Bard’s words.
