Thomas Hood

Trustee

Thomas Hood is a pupil barrister at Gatehouse Chambers with experience across commercial and intellectual property law. He has assisted in a range of matters including High Court and County Court litigation, and has in previous roles advised on contractual negotiation, licensing, and rights-management relevant to cultural and educational organisations. Alongside his professional practice, Thomas is an active academic, supervising on the intellectual property and tort law courses on the Law Tripos at the University of Cambridge and publishing research on copyright, trade marks, and the evolving landscape of digital creativity in leading peer-reviewed journals.

 

A former choral scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge, he read Music as his undergraduate degree and sang on several recordings with the Trinity College Choir. While at university, Thomas also sang in some of the initial Continuum concerts held across the city. Following those initial studies, Thomas went on to attain specialist postgraduate qualifications in intellectual property from the Queen Mary University of London, and completed his legal training at BPP University and City, University of London. He received several scholarships, including the Herchel Smith scholarship from Queen Mary and the Bedingfield Scholarship from The Honourable Society of Gray's Inn. 

 

Outside day-to-day practice, he is an Independent Advisor to the Trustees of Neurodiversity in Law, a charity he originally founded, and advocates for neurodivergent recruitment and retention in the legal profession. He is also an operational volunteer with St John Ambulance, as an Emergency Responder, member of the Medical Response Team, and Network Lead for Lambeth, Southwark, and Wandsworth Network. For his service, he was awarded the Honorary Liberty of the Old Metropolitan Borough of Southwark for his service in 2025
